Pre-Malaysia Budget Meeting with Medical Device Authority (MDA)

Representatives from key medical device associations gathered to discuss proposals for the upcoming October budget. The focus was on the development of the medical device sector. Various proposals discussed including grants, incentives, tax exemptions and support for locally made products.

Notable attendees included:

- Medical Device Authority (MDA) CEO Dr. Muralitharan Paramasua and his team. 

- Association of Malaysian Medical Industries (AMMI): Chairman Andy Lee and Government Affairs Committee Dr. Nurul Solihin.

- Malaysian Medical Device Association (MMDA): President Mr. Yong Tuan Heng, Secretary Ms. Ong Yean Ting, and Treasurer Gertrude Ting.

- Persatuan Pengilang-Pengilang Peranti Perubatan Malaysia (PERANTIM): President Johari Abu Kassim, Committee members Kamaleswaran and Ramlan Ibrahim.

- Malaysia Dental Industry Association (MDIA): President Desmond Chong, Secretary General Mior Faizrul, and Treasurer Sreeram Velautham.

MDIA proposed a digital transformation grant for professional users aimed at uplifting the adoption of digital tools among dentists. This grant would subsidize the purchase of intraoral scanners, similar to existing digital grants for accounting software and social media programs. The initiative aims to enhance treatment accuracy, save time and environmental resources, reduce patient queues and making dental treatment affordable in the longer term. This proposal highlights the association’s commitment to advancing quality and cost-effective dental care.
