Medical Device Authority (MDA) Facebook Update:

8 November 2021 - MDA-INDUSTRY COLLABORATIVE COMMITTEE (MICC) NO 2/2021. 

MICC Meeting No 2/2021 was held on 8 November 2021 to discuss issues relating to the implementation of medical device regulatory program. The meeting chaired by Mr Ahmad Shariff Hambali, Chief Executive of MDA, was attended by representatives of medical device industry associations, namely Malaysia Medical Device Association (MMDA), Association of Malaysia Medical Industry (AMMI), Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA), and Malaysia Dental Industry Association (MDIA).

Amongst the issues discussed at the meeting include change notification, re-registration, labeling, online application and online payment, as well as the implementation of Medical Devices (Duties and Obligations of Establishments) Regulations 2019 and Medical Devices (Advertising) Regulations 2019. The meeting also discussed new proposals from AMMI and MMDA pertaining to changes due to the implementation of the new EU Medical Device Regulations related to labeling and instructions for use. MDA then briefed the industry on the policy of multiple authorized representatives and multiple registrations to replace the policy of a single authorized representative.

MDA will always adopt a collaborative policy with the industry as a platform to resolve issues effectively as well as to find ways to ease the regulatory processes without compromising on the safety and performance of medical devices to be placed on the market. MICC is also aimed to serve as a forum for discussion and exchange of ideas for mutual benefits.
